Mentors and PALs
At Barbers Hill Intermediate School North, we strive for each child to have an opportunity for academic and personal growth. Our Mentor Program matches volunteers from the district or community with students who are: experiencing academic difficulties, having trouble adjusting to the school environment, dealing with the loss of a loved one to death or divorce, experiencing the stress of sickness or other problems in the home, or are extremely shy. The mentor takes a personal interest in the growth and development of the child and meets with his/her student(s) once a week before school or at lunch to act as a model, tutor, friend, coach and guide.
